Visiting Hours

The Redondo Beach Jail ("Jail") temporarily houses both male and female persons arrested in the City of Redondo Beach, California. Juveniles of both gender and individuals participating in the Jail's "pay to stay" program are also housed at the Redondo Beach Jail.

Visitation at the Redondo Beach Jail is based upon the availability of jailors. Call the Jail to see whether jailors are conducting an activity that limits their availability before visiting the Jail. Visitors may visit inmates at the Redondo Beach Jail Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m or 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. If you plan to visit a regular inmate (one not participating in the Jail's pay-to-stay program), call at least one (1) hour before your planned visit to schedule an appointment and verify the availability of the inmate you are seeking to visit.

Making an appointment will also ensure your visit will be given priority over unscheduled visits. If you plan to visit an inmate participating in the pay-to-stay program, call at least thirty (30) minutes in advance of your visit to make an appointment. Visiting hours at the Redondo Beach Jail are subject to change without notice. Therefore, always contact the Redondo Beach Jail prior to your visit. Attorneys, bail bondsmen and clergymen may visit at any time.

Visiting Procedures

All inmates are permitted one visit the day after their initial incarceration and one (1) visit every other day while in custody at the Redondo Beach Jail. Each visit may be limited to ten (10) minutes. Up to two (2) adults may visit an inmate during a visit or one (1) adult and up to two (2) children may visit an inmate during a scheduled visit. Visiting limitations may vary from the foregoing for "pay-to-stay" inmates. All visiting minors—children under the age of eighteen— must be accompanied by an adult. An alleged crime partner or an alleged victim of a crime for which an inmate is incarcerated may be prohibited from visiting the associated inmate at the Redondo Beach Jail. All visitors are subject to search at the Redondo Beach Jail.

Visitors may bring clothes, money and mail to inmates at the Redondo Beach Jail. These items will either be given to the inmate upon release or forwarded with the inmate to Court or to another detention facility once the inmate leaves the Redondo Beach Jail. Inmates are not permitted to have medications in their possession at the Redondo Beach Jail except for asthma inhalers. If medical treatment is needed, the Redondo Beach Jail will arrange for medical treatment at a local hospital if necessary. The Redondo Beach Jail should be notified about any concerns regarding an inmate's need for medication at 310-318-0616.

Visitors' Restrictions

Only visitors with a valid photo ID may visit inmates at the Redondo Beach Jail. Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for many reasons.

Telephone Access & Mail

During booking, the person being held at the Redondo Beach Jail, ("the arrestee"), may make three (3) free telephone calls. Arrestees at the Redondo Beach Jail who are parents or guardians of a minor child or children may make two (2) additional free local phone calls to arrange for the care and custody of their minor child or children. Unless there is an emergency, arrestees/inmates in custody at the Redondo Beach Jail may not receive calls or phoned-in messages.

However, if an emergency occurs, a jailor may convey a message to an inmate. Once housed, inmates may make unlimited collect calls. Since most inmates will be housed at the Redondo Beach Jail for no more than 72 hours, excluding holidays and weekends, inmates are not permitted to receive mail. No mail may be sent to "pay-to-stay" inmates.

Picking Up Personal Property

After arrest, an arrestee/inmate may authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property has been entered into evidence. If the property has been entered into evidence, it will not be available until the criminal case is completed. The person picking up the inmate's personal property must present a valid California ID or an ID from an acceptable source. To obtain the release of an arrestee's vehicle, contact the Redondo Beach Jail, the Redondo Beach Police Department or the arresting agency who will provide you with the name of the towing company that you will need to contact to learn if the vehicle has been impounded or not.
