Visiting Hours
The Alhambra City Jail houses municipal arrestees, INS detainees and federal prisoners. You may visit an inmate at the Alhambra City Jail ("the Jail"), which is operated by the City of Alhambra, Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The latest a visit can begin each day is 4:30 p.m.
Because the Alhambra City Jail's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice, you should always call the Jail before visiting. You can reach an officer at the Alhambra City Jail at any time by calling 626-570-5145. Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen may visit at any time.
Visiting Procedures
During their incarceration at the Alhambra City Jail, an inmate is allowed to have up to one total hour of visitation, which can be taken in any increment of the inmate's choosing. Three persons may visit an inmate during a visit at the Alhambra City Jail. Although children may visit inmates at the Jail, like adults, they are counted as visitors.
Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- California Identification Card
- Driver's License (any state)
- U.S. Military Identification
- Passport/Visa
- Mexican Consulate Card
- Permanent Resident Card
- Valid School Identification Card or Birth Certificate (if visitor is a minor).
Because the Alhambra City Jail does not check the status of visitors, persons on probation and/or on parole do not need to contact the Watch Commander to obtain a clearance that would allow them to visit an inmate.
Telephone Access & Mail
During booking, the person being held in the Alhambra City Jail, the "arrestee," may make three free telephone calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in messages, but may make unlimited collect calls once housed. Arrestee/inmate in the Alhambra City Jail will be housed for no more than 48 hours, excluding holidays and weekends. Thus, you should avoid sending mail to an inmate at the Alhambra City Jail.
